ChargePlan launches 7-day spot price forecast
Electricity prices are only known one day ahead. That creates a challenge when the fleet is idle over the weekend. Should vehicles be charged on Saturday or Sunday to achieve the greatest savings?
In the electricity market, spot prices are set day-ahead, meaning only one day at a time.
That works fine, until reality hits.
For many fleet operators, Friday means:
- Vehicles are parked
- The next departure is not until Monday morning
- The charging strategy must cover 2–3 days, but…
- Sunday’s electricity price is still unknown when the vehicle is plugged in on Friday
This makes real price optimisation difficult.
That is why ChargePlan now launches a 7-day spot price forecast
With the new price forecast, ChargePlan can:
- Predict price developments up to 7 days ahead
- Support informed decisions, for example between Saturday and Sunday
- Plan charging when energy is expected to be cheapest
- Ensure the fleet is ready for operation, without gambling on electricity prices
It is not about knowing the exact price, but about knowing which day and time frame are most advantageous.
The result: Lower electricity costs and fewer manual decisions, even when the fleet is parked for the weekend.
